attendance matters
Attendance Matters! Let's Show Up Together This School Year.
At Camden Fairview, we believe that #AttendanceMatters and that absences are lost opportunities to learn in the classroom. Let's work together to make sure students are at school every day possible! Some absences are unavoidable, but it’s important that students are at school from bell-to-bell as often as possible.

Beginning in kindergarten, regular attendance is often an indicator of higher academic performance. Students who are at #SchoolEveryDay also do better academically in middle school and are more likely to graduate high school.

CFSD Update: Classes are canceled on January 9 and 10.

Posted Date: 1/08/25 (1:05 PM)

Classes at Camden Fairview School District are canceled on Thursday, January 9, and Friday, January 10, due to forecasted inclement weather arriving on Thursday afternoon. CFSD employees, please check your work email for an update from Mr. Embry.

Safety is our top priority. We made this decision due to concerns that road conditions will be unsafe for our buses, families, and employees during any afternoon dismissal. All events scheduled for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are canceled. If we have information on rescheduled events, it's shared below.

Good news! We have 5 inclement weather days built into the school calendar, so Thursday and Friday will not be made up. We will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed. Stay safe and warm, Cardinals!
  • The January 9 and January 10 9G, 9B, VG, and VB games will be played at CFHS Gym on Tuesday, January 21. The start time will be determined later.
  • The Ivory Intermediate Spelling Bee will be held on Wednesday, January 15, with 5th grade starting at 8:20 AM and 4th grade at 9:30 AM.

❄️ Inclement Weather Reminders ❄️

We’re watching the weather forecast! With colder temperatures here and winter weather forecasted for Thursday and Friday, here’s a reminder of how we share inclement weather decisions with district families and employees.

Our goal is to make decisions as early as possible using both the weather forecast and local weather and road conditions. If we determine that school needs to be canceled, we’ll update families and staff through the district notification system, district social media and website, and our local media partners.

Message from the Principal:
Good evening, CFMS families! At the December 17th meeting, the Camden Fairview School Board voted to make CFMS a phone-free space using a program called Yondr. This is a pilot program to collect data on the impact of phone-free learning environments on teaching and learning. I wanted you to hear directly from me about our next steps at CFMS.

First, there will be no immediate changes while we wait to receive the implementation materials from Yondr. All students who bring a cell phone or other electronic device to school will still be expected to keep the device off or on silent and in their backpack or locker during the school day until we implement the Yondr pouches. We will keep you updated on when we expect to begin using the Yondr pouches.

Second, we will begin sharing related daily procedures with staff and students this week. We are also planning a family night to review expectations and procedures with all parents/guardians before implementation. We will share meeting details soon.

L3Harris (Aerojet Rocketdyne) Provides $5,000 Grant to Camden Fairview School District’s Robotics Lab

Camden Fairview School District was selected to receive a $5K STEM grant from L3Harris (Aerojet Rocketdyne). The grant will establish a robotics lab at Ivory Intermediate School, which serves fourth and fifth-grade students.

“We are thrilled to receive this grant and appreciate Aerojet’s commitment to supporting STEM learning at Ivory Intermediate! Creating a robotics lab is a wonderful opportunity to enhance our STEM programming and inspire our young students to engage with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a hands-on, experiential manner,” said Ivory Intermediate Principal Cindy Bever. “Integrating robotics into our curriculum will foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity, and collaborative teamwork among our students, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the future.”

The addition of a robotics lab at the intermediate school level aligns with the district's mission to provide a well-rounded education that prepares students for success in a rapidly evolving world. Congratulations to Ivory Intermediate students and educators!
